Lakeside and Seattle Prep advanced to the Metro League tournament championship game with winner-to-state girls soccer victories Wednesday at the Southwest Athletic Complex.
Ellie Crutcher assisted on the first goal and scored the second as unbeaten Lakeside beat Holy Names 3-0. Juliana Schott and Nikki Kiga also scored, Laura Adekoya had two assists and goalkeeper Katherine Myhre got the shutout.
Seattle Prep stopped Nathan Hale 4-1 as Pfeiffer Bloecker had a goal and two assists, and the Panthers shut out the Raiders until the 78th minute.
Lakeside (12-0-4) plays Seattle Prep (13-1-3) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Southwest Athletic Complex for the Metro title. Holy Names and Nathan Hale play a loser-out game today for third place, with the survivor advancing to play the KingCo 3A runner-up on Saturday for a state-tournament berth.
Monroe takes volleyball state berth
MARYSVILLE — Kylin Munoz pounded 24 kills and Kaitlyn Drew had 36 assists as Monroe swept Edmonds-Woodway 25-19, 25-20, 25-19 for a state volleyball berth and a spot in the Northwest 4A District championship match.
The Bearcats also swept Mountlake Terrace in their district opener. Edmonds-Woodway got past Oak Harbor in its opener.
Monroe will play for the district crown Saturday.
