NW Briefs | EWU runner goes to championships
Mattie Bridgmon of the Eastern Washington women’s cross-country team will compete at the NCAA Division I Championships on Monday in Terre Haute, Ind. She is the third woman to compete in the championships for Eastern in more than 17 years.

At the NAIA National Cross-Country Championships on Saturday, the Cascade Conference representatives will include Leonard Randall and Elizabeth Knudtson of Northwest.
• Western Washington’s Sarah Porter qualified as an individual to go to the NCAA Division II cross-country championships Saturday in Joplin, Mo. The Western men’s team is competing.
• At the Head of the Lake Regatta on Sunday in Seattle, the Sammamish Rowing Association won three gold medals in three masters events.
• Gonzaga’s men’s basketball games Saturday and Dec. 8 air at 5 p.m. on Channel 11. The Feb. 2 West Coast Conference game will be tape-delayed and air at 5 p.m. on FSN.
• Pacific Lutheran outside hitter Beth Hanna is 2007 Division III American Volleyball Coaches Association freshman of the year and first team All-American.
• Washington State’s Tara West and Brittany Johnson were named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII teams for women’s volleyball.
